Dr. Katie Hartlieb is a nutrition and communication specialist. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist with a doctorate in Nutrition and Food Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Hartlieb has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since 2009 and was named a Pediatric Obesity Subject Matter Expert by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) in 2019. She is a part time Assistant Professor at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, FL where she teaches medical students and faculty Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), and a Functional Nutrition faculty member at Parker University in Dallas, TX.
Her federally and privately funded projects empower youth and families to achieve healthy lifestyles in the areas of nutrition, weight management, substance use, criminal justice and HIV. Nationally, Dr. Hartlieb is a motivational interviewing consultant working with organizations like Kaiser Permanente, Michigan State University and Indiana University, providing training, coding, coaching and program development. She loves exploring health behavior change with clients, learners, and organizations.
